GRAPHIC DESIGN INSTRUCTOR
John Mujica
John Mujica joined Spokane Falls Community College in 2018. John teaches one of our Process, Technology courses for each cohort of first- and second-year students as well as the self-paced classes on a variety of subjects. In addition to those courses, he also teaches one quarter of the students’ cooperative education experience.
As a United States Navy veteran, John used his GI Bill to graduate with an AAS in Graphic Design from Spokane Falls Community College and a BFA in Visual Communication Design from Eastern Washington University (EWU). John received a local, regional, and national award from the American Advertising Federation (AAF) for his senior thesis at EWU and was voted “Outstanding Student Graduate.”
John began his graphic design career in 2008 and has worked for a variety of advertising and design agencies in Spokane. He specializes in branding, logo design, and general art direction. In 2014, together with the AAF Spokane, he co-founded Collective Campout, an annual weekend professional retreat to propel a sense of community of professional and personal growth within the industry. As a Campout committee member, he has also led art direction and overseas brand integrity for multiple years.
John has been published 4 times in LogoLounge, an international logo design competition where he’s had 23 designs selected to be published in books 9-10, and books 12-13. He also had a logo featured as part as LogoLounge’s annual trend report in 2020.
He has won many awards over his career at the local, regional and national levels. Notably, he received the Designer’s Chair Award at the 2019 American Advertising Awards in Spokane, Washington.
